1 1/2 oz. Needlefish
As posted on StripersOnline's SurfTalk message board by MichaelT:
"I keep reading about other needlefish so I wanted to give the Choopy it's due, at least from my experience over the last two years.
Having owned and fished most of the bigger named custom needlefish I have become a real believer in the Choopy needlefish. If there are sandeels around these thing are exceptional. Just an example, last night, mid August on a calm night, I fished from 11 PM to 3:30 and picked up about 30 bass from 20" to 30" using a eel colored Choopy. Cast it out, let it sink to the bottom and slowly twitch it in. They wouldn't take a lead head with tail or a Mambo but they went after the Choopy with a vengeance. Last September picked a 41 pounder on an outer Cape beach with a Choopy."

"Choopy's needlefish have earned their spot in the starting rotation in my plug bag. They have been as consistent in RI for me as Habs needles and the tried and true 7" megabait. My last trip up there (last weekend) parrot Choopy needle accounted for 50% of my landed fish with only 2 dropped fish where as a 7" megabait accounted for 0 landed and 5 dropped. Habs 2 oz parrot needle landed me a few as well. they are 2 different needles that work best in different types of water. Both must haves if you want to cover your bases imo."
1 3/4 oz. Darter

"Had the pleasure of receiving my Choopy darter about a month ago, geez I love getting plugs in the mail!! Anyway, nice parrot color, great design, great craftsmanship. Tossed the darter in every type of water you could think of, skinny water, heavy water, fast current, slow current. It casts a mile. I did have a bit of trouble getting it to dig in real heavy water, but that's with many plugs I guess. Has a great wiggle and darts amazingly well, a good 3 foot dart side to side, and random too, makes for some enticing swimming action. I had a few fish on it, all blues, but the big test for the stripers will be in the fall out in Montauk. I really had limited time to fish it extensively when and where I wanted to, but that will be coming soon. I will post again in a month or so after I fish it more. My opinion: Great plug, great craftsmanship, and will definitely catch the fish."

"I was very pleased when I received the plug, it looks great and I love the color (parrot). The lure casts like a rocket, which can sometimes be rare in a darter, at least in my opinion ( I sometimes get the tumbles when casting them).
I have used the lure on 5-6 separate occasions and thought the action is fantastic. The lure 'digs in' great and gives a nice wiggle when retrieved. Even on the occasions where is loses it's bite and rises to the top it holds a nice topwater "zig zag."
To date I have not caught any bass on it, yet. But to be honest I have been in a bit of a slump and haven't been catching much of anything (working too much and fishing when I have time not necessarily when I should) I did however catch 2 blues this morning. Rigged with a red gill teaser Both fish hit the darter and not the teaser. Don't worry, they both took the tail hook cleanly and there are no tooth marks on the lure.
I look forward to using the plug throughout the season, and using it in one of my spots that I do quite well on darters"
